Annual 'Party for the Pooches' Fundraiser Brings in Record Proceeds
The fundraiser, benefiting the Valley Humane Society of Pleasanton, was held Sept. 10 at a private residence.
From Valley Humane Society: The third annual fundraising event, Party for the Pooches, to support Pleasanton-based Valley Humane Society was held on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at the private residence of Gina Piper and Shawn Farrell in Pleasanton. The well-attended, successful event raised more than $16,000, with 100% of proceeds presented to Valley Humane Society to help further the organization’s mission to provide programs and care for companion animals in the Tri-Valley.
The event’s 200 attendees, which included local city officials and dignitaries, were treated to a festive evening with new and old friends. Due to the outpouring of donations to support the fundraising effort, guests dined on pizza catered from a wood-fired pizza oven, sipped on Livermore Valley wines and enjoyed jazz music performed by a live band in a serene backyard patio setting. The best was saved for last, when scrumptious desserts were auctioned off as part of the event’s much-anticipated live auction.
Gina Piper, who serves on the Board of Valley Humane Society, stated, “As a member of the Pleasanton community for 40 years and a Board member of the organization for three years, I am beyond grateful for the support and generosity of this wonderful community. Our third annual fundraiser was by far our most successful due to the incredible donations received for the raffle and silent and live auctions. In addition, we received donations of food, wine and dessert, making the event a first-class gala. As a devoted owner and lover of companion animals, I am pleased to continue to play a part in supporting Valley Humane Society.”

Melanie Sadek, Executive Director of Valley Humane Society, commented, “We are thrilled with the outcome of this meaningful fundraising event. Events like this provide financial support to help offset Valley Humane Society’s lifesaving work. The money raised at this event will help cover animal care costs like age-appropriate vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, and other necessary expenses associated with providing care for more than 600 animals a year.”
