East Bay Regional Parks To Host Ribbon-Cutting at Shadow Cliffs

Ribbon-cutting will mark the completion of a 1,000-square-foot outdoor interpretive pavilion at Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreation Area.

PLEASANTON, CA — East Bay Regional Parks will host a ribbon-cutting celebrating the completion of a 1,000-square-foot outdoor interpretive pavilion at Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreation Area in Pleasanton.

The event is scheduled to take place at Shadow Cliffs, 2500 Stanley Boulevard, Wednesday, Dec. 14 beginning at 11 a.m.

Highlighted speakers at the event include Parks District Manager Sabrina Landreth, Park District Board President Colin Coffey, Park District Board Member Ayn Wieskamp, Regional Parks Foundation Board Treasurer Bruce Kern and key funders Nancy and Gary Harrington of Pleasanton.

The new pavilion features educational exhibits highlighting the natural and cultural history of the park, as well as the recreational opportunities available in the park’s nature area, East Bay Regional Parkssaid in an emailed statement.

The pavilion will "serve as an outdoor visitor center connecting visitors to a nature area that comprises 116 acres of cottonwood and willow-lined creek open space with a wide array of
wildlife" and will also serve as a gathering spot for school programs, allowing the Park District to serve more children each year.

The East Bay Regional Park District is the largest regional park system in the nation, comprising 73 parks, 55 miles of shoreline, and over 1,300 miles of trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and environmental education. The Park District receives more than 25 million visits annually throughout Alameda and Contra Costa counties in the San Francisco Bay Area.
