A hawk caused a small fire in Pleasanton Tuesday morning, according to the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department.
PLEASANTON, CA — A grass fire broke out on Liberty Road in Pleasanton Tuesday morning after a hawk landed on a power line, according to the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department.
At 6:09 a.m. Tuesday, crews were dispatched to Liberty Road to respond to a half-acre fire in mowed grass moving slowly, LPFD spokesperson Rosa Ramos told Patch. The fire was knocked down in around 20 minutes.
In 2024, birds landing on power lines likely caused Enhanced Power Line Safety Settings to click into place, resulting in outages for thousands of PG&E customers across Dublin, Pleasanton, and Livermore. As a result, PG&E has installed bird guards on some of its power lines.
