Mock Traffic Collision, Street Closure Scheduled in Pleasanton
Take note that a simulated traffic collision Thursday is part of an anti-DUI program at Foothill High School and there will be delays.
PLEASANTON, CA — A simulated traffic collision happening Thursday is part of an anti-DUI program put on by the Pleasanton Unified School District.
“Every 15 Minutes” is a program aimed at teaching young adults the dangers and consequences of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The program gets its name from the frequency at which a person is killed in an alcohol or drug-related collision in the country, the city said.
Students from Foothill High School will simulate a mock fatal DUI traffic collision at 10:30 a.m. Thursday on Foothill Road and in front of the high school.

First responders treat the collision as a real-life incident and will be on scene. Residents will hear sirens and see the scene but will be given access to and from their homes.
Part of Foothill Road will be closed from 8:30 a.m. until approximately 3:00 p.m. Thursday between West Las Positas Boulevard and Muirwood Drive (south).

Traffic will be detoured around the collision scene.
A northbound bike lane on Foothill Road in front of the school was partially closed due to a bleacher setup. at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday and will reopen Thursday afternoon.
2022 is the 19th year the Pleasanton Police Department and the Pleasanton Unified School District have presented this program. The program is directed at high school juniors and seniors. Funding for it was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
