2 Fatal Tri-Valley Crashes Reported Hours Apart
Fatal rollover crashes occurred Friday morning in Dublin and Thursday night in Pleasanton.

TRI-VALLEY, CA — Two people are dead after separate rollover car crashes in Dublin and Pleasanton that snarled Tri-Valley traffic ahead of the Friday morning commute.
The first fatal crash was reported 10:30 p.m. Thursday in Pleasanton, police said in a Friday morning statement.
Investigators believe the driver of a Toyota Avalon was speeding on West Las Positas Boulevard when she crashed into a center median curb east of Hopyard Road, causing the car to flip onto the driver's side and crash into a light pole, police said. The light pole caused the car's roof to cave into the passenger side.

The female driver was pronounced dead at the scene and her identity was not released as of Friday morning. Police do not know whether the driver was under the influence.
The crash prompted the closure of West Las Positas Boulevard from Hopyard Road to Coronado Lane for several hours into Friday morning. Police expected to reopen the road by 12:30 p.m. Friday.

The second crash occurred just before 6 a.m. on southbound Interstate Highway 680, south of Alcosta Boulevard in Dublin, said CHP spokesperson Tyler Hahn in an email. The driver of a Honda Civic sideswiped a big rig driver in the #4 lane, causing the driver to lose control, cross all lanes of traffic, crash into the center divider and stop sideways in the #1 lane.
The big rig continued and appeared to be unaware of the crash.
Shortly after, a Ford pickup truck drove into the area and crashed into the Honda, killing the driver, Hahn said.
CHP does not believe the driver was under the influence.
A sig-alert was put into effect shortly after the crash and lifted around 9:30 a.m. The left and center lanes were blocked during the investigation.
