Pleasanton Costco On Track To Open By 2023: Report

PLEASANTON, CA — A Costco Warehouse appears to be one step closer to opening in Pleasanton.

An appeal from a group of residents who opposed the development was rejected by a three-judge panel of California’s First District Court of Appeal, the East Bay Times reported.

Pleasanton Citizens for Responsible Growth filed the claim saying that the city’s environmental review of the area was not adequate, the paper reported.

The warehouse would be on Johnson Drive just east of I-680 and north of Stoneridge Drive. It would also come with a 20-pump gas station.

"City Council is deep in Costco's pockets and voted 5-0 to approve the project without disclosing all of the true environmental impacts and costs to taxpayers that this project will have on our community," the group said in February of 2020 after rezoning plans were approved.

The project has been in the works for more than seven years. If plans continue to move forward, construction could start in June with the goal of completion by the fall of 2023.
