Pleasanton First Time Homebuyers May Get Up To $210K Down Payment

AC Boost is funded by Alameda County Measure A1, passed by voters. The deadline to apply is Aug. 30. Here's a link to learn more and apply.

PLEASANTON, CA — Coming up with a 20 percent down payment is a daunting task for first time homebuyers in Pleasanton, with home prices typically over $1 million. That's why voters passed AC Boost, Alameda County Measure A1.

The program will pay up to $210,000 for a down payment. The money is a shared appreciation loan for people who live in, work in, or have been displaced from Alameda County.

It offers a limited preference for first responders and educators, including public school employees and childcare providers.

"A proven antidote to displacement is sustainable homeownership," said Keith Carson, President of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors. "AC Boost unlocks the opportunity for more working households to build home equity, put down roots in the community, and have a place their family can call home for years to come. Given the exacerbating impact of COVID-19 on economic inequalities, it is of vital importance that we invest now in the ability of middle-class residents to stay and thrive in communities throughout Alameda County."

The program is administered by Hello Housing, which will hold an online information meeting for interested homebuyers at 6 p.m. on Thursday. Register here for the meeting.
