Pleasanton Man Accused Of Killing Father; Police Find Explosives And Ghost Guns In Home

A 28-year-old man is accused of shooting his 61-year-old father. Police say explosives, ghost guns, and a 3D printer were found in the home.

PLEASANTON, CA — Investigators found explosives and ghost guns in the home of a 28-year-old Pleasanton man accused of shooting his father to death, authorities confirmed Monday.

Lucas Chan was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of his 61-year-old father Lance Chan following a verbal dispute on Friday, according to the Pleasanton Police Department. The department released the name of the victim Monday evening along with details of the ongoing investigation.

On Friday at around 9:40 p.m., Pleasanton police responded to reports of a shooting near the 4600 block of Helpert Court, police said. Officers arrived to find Lance Chan with a gunshot wound. He was later declared dead at a nearby hospital. Witnesses told police they had observed the pair in verbal dispute before the shooting.

Lucas Chan was taken into custody and booked into Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of homicide, police said.

Police said they found improvised explosive devices, a 3D printer, and multiple ghost guns in the home. The Alameda County Sheriff's Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team removed the devices. The PPD has also partnered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to recover the explosives and additional evidence, including the 3D printer and ghost guns.
