Man Shot Dead In Pleasanton, Possible Explosive Devices Found In Home: Police

A 29-year-old Pleasanton resident is in custody after a man was found shot Friday night. This was the second Tri-Valley shooting on Friday.

PLEASANTON, CA — A Pleasanton resident is in custody following a fatal shooting Friday, according to the Pleasanton Police Department. The Pleasanton shooting is the second known shooting to have taken place Friday in the Tri-Valley, after a man shot at an occupied car in Dublin at around 1:22 p.m., and the second fatal shooting in Pleasanton in under a month.

On Friday at around 9:40 p.m., Pleasanton police responded to reports of a shooting near the 4600 block of Helpert Court, police said. Officers arrived to find an adult man with a gunshot wound. He was later declared dead at a nearby hospital.

Pleasanton police allege that detectives found "suspicious devices" inside Chan's home, including possible improvised explosive devices. The Alameda County Sheriff's Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team were called to assist, and removed them from the property.
