Community Invited to Pleasanton School Board Candidate Forum

All four candidates will present their positions on local school issues at the Pleasanton Library October 17.

A candidate forum featuring all four candidates vying for three seats on the Pleasanton Unified School District Board of Trustees is scheduled on Monday, October 17, 2016 at the Pleasanton Library at 400 Old Bernal Street. The event, which is free to the public, takes place from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and is hosted by PleasantonVoters.com, a grassroots organization with the goal of retaining the best qualities of our city for future generations.

The candidates will speak about themselves and their reasons for running for the Board. The 2016 candidate slate includes incumbents Valerie Arkin and Jamie Yee Hintzke, Steve Maher, retired Hart Middle School principal, and former school board member Kathleen Ruegsegger. A moderator will guide the event, and questions from the audience may be submitted on cards provided at the door.

“School board members wield an enormous amount of power, and make decisions on everything ranging from graduation requirements, to academic curriculum, special education, and the construction of new schools. I encourage all parents of students in Pleasanton schools to get involved in the election process by getting to know the candidates who may ultimately be making the decisions for your children,” observed Kelly Cousins, President of PleasantonVoters.com.
