Pleasanton Retail Theft Arrest: Driver Arrested On Suspicion Of Stealing Large Amounts Of Nike & Adidas Shoes

PLEASANTON, CA — A driver on I-680 was arrested on felony grand theft charges after numerous items from Nike and Adidas with security tags were found inside their car, according to the California Highway Patrol.

On Aug. 15 at around 10:51 p.m., CHP Dublin Area officers stopped a sedan for a traffic violation, according to a news release. During the stop, officers observed a large amount of new clothing and detergent, many of which had security tags. CHP said the driver could not explain why there was so much clothing and detergent. They were placed under arrested on suspicion of felony grand theft. The CHP Golden Gate Division Organized Retail Theft Task Force is assisting with the investigation.

No details on the suspect were provided.

This marks the latest event in a string of large-scale alleged retail theft.

In July, two 19-year-olds were arrested for allegedly robbing $28,000 in merchandise from the Gucci store at the San Francisco Premium Outlets, and driving through barriers at the mall.
