Check Out This 'Ridiculously Huge' Haunted House In Downtown Pleasanton

For Porter Warren, 10, the "Scream House" is "kind of like his Super Bowl," his father said. See photos and learn how to see it in person.

PLEASANTON, CA — Porter's Scream House, orchestrated by 10-year-old Porter Warren, is back to send chills up the spines of Tri-Valley residents for its fifth year.

This year, said father Dave Warren, "it's ridiculously huge now."

New additions to the haunted house in downtown Pleasanton at 245 Rose Ave. include another 12-foot skeleton, a bubble gum pink casket, a vintage truck, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and even a hearse. Trees are shrouded in spiderwebs, and the front porch was reimagined as the entryway to Bates Motel, setting of the "Psycho"-based TV thriller of the same name.

Porter, a fourth-grader at Lydiksen Elementary School, has been hooked on Halloween since he found out that he was a distant relative of Bram Stoker, the author of "Dracula," his father said.

The extravaganza took about a week to set up this year, but Porter "starts plotting and planning Nov. 1," looking for deals on props to be featured in the next year's display, Warren said.

"When it all comes to fruition, ... it's kind of like his Super Bowl," Warren said.

If you noticed that the car washes at 6750 Santa Rita Road, 3192 Santa Rita Road and 5251 Hopyard Road look extra festive this time of year, you can thank Porter. Cox Family Stores invited him back for the second year in a row to decorate its locations.

To get the full effect, swing by Porter's Scream House to check out his carefully curated display of more than 100 ghoulish decorations. And if you see the creative mastermind himself, don't be shy.

"He loves just chitchatting with everybody, giving them a little tour," Warren said.

So pay Porter a visit sometime. If you dare.
