PLEASANTON, CA — The Pleasanton Library is beginning its summer tour throughout the city. On Thursday, Zippy, the library's new mobile van, will visit Ken Mercer Sports Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The 28-foot van brings with it books, library staff, Wifi, HVAC, STEAM kits, sports equipment, a 55" LCD monitor, a wheelchair lift, and more.

The visit will also feature outdoor story time, arts and crafts, and games.

“Zippy is a game-changer for how we deliver services and engage with the community,” Director of Library and Recreation Heidi Murphy said in a statement. “With this outreach vehicle, we are breaking down traditional barriers and reimagining access by moving beyond building walls and into the heart of every neighborhood. We are hopeful that Zippy will help drive us further toward our vision of inspiring a vibrant community where everyone belongs.”
