• Sand and sandbags available to residents (plumassun.org) — Free sand and sandbags are available now at Portola City Hall, 120 Main Street, for both city and county residents preparing for possible flooding. Supplies are first-come, first-served with a suggested limit of 10 per family, and you’ll need to bring your own shovel. If you can’t physically get sandbags or face serious flooding, officials urge you to contact your local fire department or the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office for help.
