Prime Poway Woman No. 19 is also involved in her children's schools and the Boy Scouts.

She may be a working mother of three teenage sons, but Kristin Rayder still finds time to give back.

Rayder, an attorney specializing in business law and estate planning, has been a member of the local Rotary Club since 2007.

She’s also involved in the Scripps Ranch High School booster club, Mock Trials Team, the Scripps Ranch Fire Safe Council and Boy Scouts.

Rayder, who enjoys camping and hiking, said she is most proud of her sons.

“They are all nice, considerate, helpful young men, each of whom contribute to their own community in his own way,” she said. “Each has participated regularly in performing community service in Poway with Rotary as well.”

She finds inspiration from San Diego Superior Court Commissioner Terrie Roberts, who previously served as a public defender and deputy district attorney.

“She is an excellent role model for all of the students on the team—young men and women alike,” she said.

What does Women’s History Month mean to you?

“I believe that women are still not considered equal to men in this world of ours. I work in an industry which still is somewhat male-dominated, but the genders are slowly equalizing as time passes.

“I think it is crucial to continue to raise awareness of the unequal treatment of women and, regardless of your political preference, we should all be excited that this president mentioned women’s equality in his inaugural speech and has made a commitment to address the inequality that still exists. By having a Women’s History Month every year, we revisit the issues and continue our quest toward equality on a regular basis.”
