American Independent Party Endorses Stahl for Congress

The Republican candidate for the 52nd District welcomes the AIP endorsement.

The American Independent Party has endorsed John Stahl in the race for the 52nd District Congressional race. Stahl is a Republican running for the seat in the newly redrawn district that includes Poway.

“We have reviewed the candidates in the race and find that John best supports our principles and priorities,” Markham Robinson, AIP executive committee chairman, said in a statement.

Other candidates in the race include incumbent Republican Brian Bilbray, Port Commissioner Scott Peters and Assemblywoman Lori Saldana, both Democrats, and former Santee Mayor Jack Doyle, a former Democrat running as an independent.

The California-based AIP is the third-largest party by registration in San Diego County and statewide, according to a press release.

“There are over 10,000 AIP-registered voters in my district and over 40,000 in the county, and I can use all of their help as we approach the primary on June 5,” Stahl said in a statement. “We are working to have a conservative win this seat for all the great folks of this district, and we appreciate the confidence and support of the AIP with this endorsement.”
