Update: Missing 85-Year-Old Found Unhurt in Rancho Bernardo

An 85-year-old woman that was reported missing from a Poway home Wednesday morning was found unhurt more than 12 hours later in Rancho Bernardo, according to the Sheriff’s Department. A couple that had recognized her from a photo released by the Sheriff’s Department spotted her on a street corner and called authorities.

Shih Saung left her daughter’s home in the 1200 block of Old Pomerado Road at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday, according to the department. She was found on the corner of Rancho Bernardo Road and Pomerado Road at 8 p.m.

Family members told authorities that Saung may be in the early stages of dementia, has diabetes and didn’t take her medication Wednesday. Saung often takes the bus, and authorities thought she might have been in downtown San Diego or Lindbergh Field.
