San Onofre Nuclear Plant Offline for Summer, Official Says

Facility has been shut down since January, following a leak of radioactive steam.

The San Onofre nuclear power plant will remain offline for the summer, an Edison International official said Thursday.

According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, Ted Craver, chief executive officer of Southern California Edison’s parent company, said the earliest date to restart the Unit 2 reactor would be the end of summer.

The Unit 3 reactor could take even longer to bring back online, he said.
