Sketch of Suspect in Sexual Assault Released
A woman reported being assaulted Monday while walking along Vaughn Road.

The Sheriff’s Department has released a sketch of a suspect in the Monday night.
The assault took place in the 12400 block of Vaughn Road just after 10 p.m. as the woman was out walking, according to the Sheriff’s Department. The 44-year-old woman told deputies that a man grabbed her and tried to force her into a drainage ditch nearby.
The woman fought back and held onto a chain-link fence, but the suspect threatened her with a knife, according to Sgt. Tim Matzkiw. The woman was forced to the ground, where she was sexually assaulted.

The woman was eventually able to kick the suspect off of her, and he was last seen running west on Vaughn Road, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic, possibly in his early 20s, short hair, goatee, wearing a white, dirty T-shirt and dark sweatpants.

Detectives from the Poway Sheriff’s Station are investigating the assault. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous, and the Sheriff’s Department is asking anyone who sees the suspect not to approach him, but to call (858) 565-5200.
