Another Earthquake Shakes SoCal: Did You Feel It?

After last week's seismic swarm, another small earthquake hit just outside San Diego County. Did you feel anything?

The U.S. Geological Survey reported a magnitude-3.5 earthquake struck outside the far southeastern reaches of San Diego County early Friday.

The tremor struck five miles east of Brawley and 15 miles north-northeast of El Centro at 6:56 a.m. at a depth of 3.7 miles, according to a U.S. Geological Survey preliminary earthquake report.

The minor quake comes after a "" that hit California Aug. 26. Ramona residents said on the site's Facebook page that they felt quakes all day Sunday, including those living on the west end of town.

An earthquake alert was issued Monday by California's Emergency Management Agency to warn people that more shakes may be felt in the coming week.

Cal EMA also reminds residents to take the following actions during an earthquake:

  • If indoors, stay there. Practice "Drop, Cover, Hold On" by getting under a table or in a corner
  • If outdoors, get into an open area away from trees, building, walls and power lines. 
  • If driving, pull over to the side of the road and stop. Avoid stopping under overpasses and power lines. Stay inside the car until the shaking is over.
  • If in a high-rise building, stay away from windows and outside walls. Practice "Drop, Cover, Hold On". Get under a table or desk. Do not use elevators.
  • If in a crowded public place, do not rush for the doors. Move away from the shelves containing objects that could fall.
