ASTREA, Fire Department Respond to Distressed Hikers at Cedar Creek Sunday
Capt. Janae Shoemaker said no medical aid was needed.

Two hikers needed assistance hiking out of Cedar Creek Falls late Sunday afternoon, Capt. Janae Shoemaker of Ramona Fire Station 81 said.
The females, whose ages could not be provided, were not heat-exhausted or dehydrated, Shoemaker said.
"They just had difficulty climbing back out," the captain told Patch.

According to Shoemaker, U.S. Forest Service and the San Diego County Sheriff's Department were on the scene before Ramona Fire Department/Cal Fire responded at around 4:30 p.m.
"ASTREA and our helicopter 12 were both on scene in case the hikers needed to be lifted out," she said.

Shoemaker said there were no injuries reported and neither hiker required medical attention. Both were able to hike out of Cedar Creek Falls with assistance from authorities.
This incident took place the second weekend the trail has been reopened after a nearly two-year closure. The previous weekend, a young hiker also needed assistance hiking back out.
