Authorities Name Shane M. Tatro as Victim in Walnut Shooting

A report shows that the 38-year-old from Ramona died of a gun shot wound to the abdomen.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner named Shane M. Tatro, 38, as the victim of Sunday's shooting at a residence off Walnut Avenue Thursday afternoon.

The Ramona resident was reportedly shot in the abdomen at 1356 Walnut Ave. in Ramona on Sept. 16 at 3 p.m. and died at Palomar Medical Center at 6:54 p.m. that evening, according to the medical examiner.

Homicide detectives were investigating the fatal shooting of Tatro, which reportedly occured after the 38-year-old went to the home on Walnut Avenue and got into an argument with the homeowner, who told investigators the man was a stranger to him, a homicide lieutenant said in a statement.

As the man and the homeowner fought, the homeowner's adult son grabbed a gun from the home and ordered the man to leave at gunpoint, Giannantonio said, adding that a struggle for the weapon ensued.

As of Monday, the homeowner and his son were cooperating with investigators and no arrests had been made as of early today, according to Giannantonio.
