Authorities Release Names of Those Who Died in SR 78 Crash

The San Diego Medical Examiner's office released the names of those who died in Tuesday's crash on the 78 near Santa Ysabel.

The names of four that perished in Tuesday's on State Route 78 were released by authorities Wednesday night.

The San Diego Medical Examiner Office names Mary Helen Elizabeth Aguilar, 33; Francisco Raul Higueros Perez, 33; Camryn Aguilar, 7; and Jennifer Aguilar, 9 as the victims of the fatal crash.

Perez was a resident of Santa Ana and the Aguilars were from San Diego.

According to the Medical Examiner's Office, the 7- and 9-year-old were both unrestrained in the 2003 Honda Odyssey Aguilar was driving. The van was traveling eastbound with one adult passenger and six children in the back when Perez's 2010 Pontiac Vibe, which was headed westbound, crossed into their path "for unknown reasons."

The girls' father Geraldo Aguilar told NBC7 his 6-year-old daughter, Audrey, suffered severe spinal and intestinal injuries, and 13-year-old Irene suffered broken bones in the crash.

The van's front seat passenger, a 67-year-old San Diego woman who is the vehicle's registered owner, was taken to a hospital with major injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.
