Average Gas Price Rises Largest Amount Since Oct. 7
A spokesperson for the Automobile Club of Southern California said it's normal for gas prices to drop then head up at the very end of the year.
The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose today by its largest amount since Oct. 7, increasing 1.3 cents to $3.595.
The average price had decreased 75 of the past 80 days, dropping to its lowest amount since Dec. 27, 2011, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is nine-tenths of a cent more than one week ago and 1.1 cents greater than one year ago but 17.6 cents less than one month ago.

"It's not uncommon for prices to drop in November and December and then head up at the very end of the year," Marie Montgomery Nordhues of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service. "That's exactly what happened in 2011 as well."
