Escondido DMV To Close: Will It Affect Ramonans?

The nearby DMV is set to permanently close on May 10.

Since Ramona is without a Department of Motor Vehicles, residents rely on traveling "down the hill" to take care of their vehicle needs, like registration, driving tests and everyone's favorite: the identification picture.

Last week, the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced that the Escondido field office (725 North Escondido Blvd.) will permanently close on May 10.

"The office will be closed until new space can be acquired which is expected to take approximately nine months," a news release stated.

To accommodate for the Escondido field office closure, three nearby offices will open an hour earlier each day beginning Wednesday, May 1, including Poway's office:

Poway, 13461 Community Road: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Wednesday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
