General Plan Update Before Board of Supervisors Again Wednesday

The lengthy process of approving the long-range plan for development in unincorporated areas of San Diego county takes one more step forward.

Changes to the document that outlines planning and development policy for unincorporated areas of San Diego county will be reviewed once again at the Board of Supervisors meeting Wednesday. The board heard staff recommendations for the General Plan Update at its October through December meetings, and members of the public made presentations.

The review of the update to the county's planning document is the culmination of several years of discussions with advisory planning groups and other stakeholders.

Population growth precipitates changes to planning and land use policy in the county. On Wednesday's agenda is discussion of specific properties, conservation subdivisions, resource protection, groundwater and any environmental impacts of proposed changes.
