Ramona Elementary's Principal Muñoz Announces Retirement

Phyllis Muñoz has served as principal at the local school for nine years, the district said.

Ramona Elementary School's principal has announced her retirement, Ramona Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Robert Graeff said Wednesday.

Phyllis Muñoz has served nearly 40 years in the public education system in San Diego County, and Graeff stated she will finish out her year at Ramona Elementary before retiring.

"During Phyllis' tenure at RE, her leadership has helped transform the school to an institution fully devoted to student success—evidenced by a soaring API score and the school's most recent California Title I Academic Achievement Award," Graeff said in a statement.

Recently, Muñoz was awarded the ACSA Elementary Principal of the Year for all of San Diego and Imperial Counties—something Graeff called "a source of pride for the entire school district."

Muñoz has served as principal at Ramona Elementary for nine years.
