Tanner Hendee To Be Sentenced Today in Homeless Man Beating

A 19-year-old man who pleaded guilty in July to assault with force will be sentenced today.

A young man who pleaded guilty to punching a 61-year-old homeless man in Ramona and leaving the victim unconscious in a vacant house is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday.

, 19, pleaded guilty July 23 to assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury in connection with the May 7 attack on Scott Kingston.

Medics found Kingston on his back in a house in the vicinity of the 100 block of 11th Street just before 5:30 p.m. May 7. At the time, authorities said Kingston suffered from head and possible spine injuries.

The exact motive was unclear but according to court testimony, Hendee and Kingston had clashed before. Hendee believed that Kingston was a sex offender, prosecutor Shanish Aloor said.

The state's Megan's Law online database of registered sex offenders lists a 61-year-old transient by the name of Scott Randall Kingston, with a 2005 conviction for sexual battery.
