Two Major Roads out of Ramona To Be Temporarily Closed During Business Hours Next Week

Poway Grade and part of Highway 78 will both be closed for construction work.

If you're planning to travel out of Ramona next week, you might need to take an alternative route. Two major routes taken by commuters in and out of Ramona will be closed during business days for at least part of next week, according to CalTrans and the city of Poway. They'll be open during rush hours.

Residents and businesses on Poway Grade will be allowed access to their properties, but other drivers will be diverted to Scripps Poway Parkway.

Scripps Poway Parkway is also the route that CalTrans suggests for motorists during the partial Highway 78 closure. The closure will be from Indian Oaks Road to Weekend Villa Road for about two more weeks. (to see the map attached to the earlier story, click on the Highway 78 link above)

The timeline for completion of the work on both roads, however, depends on weather conditions, according to the agencies.

Signs notifying motorists of the closures are posted at the entrances to both roads.

Update Nov. 2: CalTrans spokesman Edward Cartagena told Ramona Patch that in the event of an emergency, they could clear Highway 78 fairly quickly to allow traffic through because the work is not being done on the road itself but on the slope.
