VFW's Spaghetti Dinner, Pink Shoe To Raise Cancer Research Funds
Visit VFW Post 3783 on Oct. 6 to help raise money for breast cancer awareness and more.

October is nationally known as Breast Cancer Awareness month and the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3783 is holding its annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser to kick off the pink-colored month.
Ramona's VFW Post 3783 Ladies Auxiliary has hosted the fundraising dinner for more than 15 years, sending thousands of dollars to cancer research and cancer relief for those diagnosed with this lethal disease, according to a VFW press release. All proceeds from the dinner, including tips collected, go directly to the Ladies Auxiliar Cancer Fund, which benefits not just breast cancer, but all types of cancer.
The Ladies Auxiliar Fund provides relief for those affected by cancer in Ramona, as well as member of the auxiliary that is diagnosed with cancer; $500 is sent to the Department of California’s Cancer Research Fund, according to the VFW 3783.

Last year, the local post's dinner raised $500, which only covered their donation to the Department of California, according to a press release. This year, the post is sending out a challenge to the community of Ramona, inviting everyone to the spaghetti dinner on Oct. 6 at 6 and 7 p.m.
Dinner costs just $10 and the VFW post is looking to raise $1,000 at this year's event. During the fundraising dinner, a "Pink Shoe," decorated by one of the post's cancer survivors, will be passed around for donations to the fund.

The night will also include a 50/50 drawing, where one lucky diner will split the pot, with half of the winnings going to the night's cancer fund.
