[Updated] Windy Weather Creates Road Hazards, Power Outages in Borrego Springs
CHP reported three separate wind-related incidents in Borrego Springs that affected the roads.

Thanks to gusty winds, roads in Borrego Springs saw many hazards Monday morning and downed power poles cause an outage.
San Diego Gas & Electric reported a total of 2,158 customers without service in the Borrego Springs/Shelter Valley area Monday afternoon after two circuits were down.

"We have determined that power in your area has been shut-off for safety reasons while repairs are being made," SDG&E said.
California Highway Patrol reported boulders in the roadway on Borrego Springs Road at state Route 78 around 10:25 am. According to the agency, the boulders were cleared just after 10:30 a.m.

A plow truck would be patrolling the area and clearing debris from the road as needed throughout the day, CHP said.
Borrego Valley Road was temporarily closed down at Palm Canyon Drive due to downed power lines. San Diego Gas & Electric requested the road be shut down.
The 700 block of Weather Vane Drive was also closed due to a downed communications pole, according to CHP.
A high wind avdvisory remains in effect in the Borrego Springs Area until further notice, CHP reported.
The winds were making driving in the mountains and deserts difficult, especially for motorists with high-profile vehicles, according to the National Weather Service, which cautioned motorists to watch out for broken tree limbs and in the deserts, blowing dust and sand.
