- Looking for a way to give back to 4S Ranch? The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department seeks prospective senior volunteers to join the Senior Volunteer Patrol. Volunteers must be at least 50 years old, must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident who has applied for citizenship, must have a valid California driver’s license and auto insurance, must be of good moral character with no felony convictions, must attend a two-week Senior Volunteer Patrol Academy, and must work up to five hours a week. Traffic control, patrolling neighborhoods in 4S Ranch, checking on homes of residents on vacation, and checking on the welfare of individuals as part of the Sheriff's “You Are Not Alone” program are among the opportunity areas available. - The San Diego Community College District offers eight-week courses at City, Mesa, and Miramar College to begin on April 4. "At the San Diego Community College District, we strive to provide students with as many learning opportunities to help meet students' educational needs," SDCCD Chancellor Carlos O. Cortez said. "This is an important opportunity for students, especially for those who might not have been ready to enroll in classes at the start of the spring semester." The spring semester runs through May 28. - The San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency has released the latest COVID-19 statistics. Through March 22, over 93.7 percent of San Diegans have been at least partially vaccinated, over 82.3 percent have been fully vaccinated, and more than 55.5 percent have been boosted.
