Monday Essentials: New Library, Windsurfing and Breaking Bad

See what's happening with the new central library and answer our spoiler-free question about the end of Breaking Bad.

Here's what you need to know this week:

  • New Library Opens: The new central library downtown is finally open to the public, with a price tag of nearly $185 million. The new features planned for the nine-story library included roof gardens, a public reading room and a state-of-the-art auditorium.
  • Want to Windsurf? Councilman Mark Kersey, who represents RB in District 5, is asking residents for their thoughts on bringing windsurfing and paddle boarding back to Lake Hodges. Email him at markkersey@sandiego.gov.
  • Breaking Bad is Over: Don't worry. We're not going to spoil the finale for you here. (But if that's what you want, go here.) We will ask, though: Do you think the show had a positive or negative effect on how people perceive methamphetamine use? San Diego County is no stranger to meth problems and some in law enforcement say the show has glorified the drug's use. What do you think?
