Soitec's Rancho Bernardo Solar Factory Open
The facility will produce photovoltaic solar modules for utility-scale solar projects in the county.

The Soitec Solar Rancho Bernardo facility, which was acquired by the solar energy component manufacturer last December, is now open for business, the San Diego Daily Transcript reported.
Soitec announced Thursday the grand opening of the factory, which is equipped with an automated production line and is operational, the company said. Photovoltaic solar modules produced in San Diego will support hundreds of megawatts worth of contracts for utility-scale projects in California, the company added.
According to the Daily Transcript, Soitec has said the factory should create 450 jobs at full capacity and has been designed to reach 280 MWp in capacity at full production.

The Rancho Bernardo facility sits on 14.8-acre parcel of land and has received an extensive upgrade, inluding a fully-automated manufacturing equipment and processes.
