Frozen Treat Battle: Bowl of Heaven Wins Spirited Voting
An icy bowl of fruit that is healthy for you is a favorite in Rancho Santa Margarita.
You may choose to eat with a golden spoon, but the frozen treat you want in Rancho Santa Margarita is served in a .
Bowl of Heaven, the health-conscious smoothie and bowl restaurant that features acai berries, was the winner of the weeklong poll event that sought the best frozen treat in RSM.
It was popular with residents as were cast. Although Bowl of Heaven was added to the poll several hours after the voting began on April 17, it pulled even over the weekend with nonfat frozen yogurt chain Golden Spoon. The two restaurants were tied with more than 400 votes cast.

However, Bowl of Heaven continued to surge while Golden Spoon experienced brain freeze. Bowl of Heaven won by almost 200 votes.
The brainchild of Brandon Beazer and his father in law, Dan McCormick, Bowl of Heaven opened in Rancho Santa Margarita's Empresa Center 19 months ago. It has also expanded with restaurants in Huntington Beach and La Verne, as well as single restaurants in Arizona, Nevada and Idaho.

Unlike many smoothies that are full of sugar, ice cream and empty calories, the acai bowls are a blend of healthy ingredients and superfoods, including acai berries, and can easily replace a meal. Whether it's a bowl or a smoothie, there's no ice, sugar or dairy added.
In total, Bowl of Heaven captured 53 percent of the vote to Golden Spoon's 36 percent.
A distant third was Yogurtland with five percent of the vote, and Cold Stone Creamery was fourth.
