Taking a look at what's going down and coming up for residents in the Rancho Santa Margarita area. 

• SAMLARC met with residents at its first meeting since the drowning death of a 3-year-old during the HOA's July Fourth Celebration at the Beach Club. Here's an in-depth look at the meeting and changes that are likely forthcoming from the Santa Margarita Landscape and Recreation Corporation.

• Dennis Mitchell Mueller, the man who was shot by Orange County Sheriff's deputy Manuel Cruz in Rancho Santa Margarita's first officer involved shooting, has filed a lawsuit against the county, the sheriff, and Cruz. 

• Santiago Canyon was abuzz on Tuesday as gunshots were fired near an equestrian center. Choppers were in the air and the SWAT team was on the ground as the area went on lockdown.
