The concept for a Splash Pad began back in 2017. Since then, staff has gone through the process of identifying a location, obtaining rights to build the facility on the site, securing the funding to begin developing the project, and finally construction. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, significant delays in the project timeline ultimately impacted the design and construction efforts.
The project used NO taxpayer dollars but instead utilized developer fees to pay for the “all-in” project cost of $1.72 million. The Central Park Splash Pad has numerous spray features, both tall and small, an 18-foot mountain backdrop to screen the on-site restrooms and equipment rooms, a tempered shower tower, and plenty of seating and shade for park-goers. Every feature of this one-of-a-kind facility is custom to create an amazing facility for the families of Rancho Santa Margarita.
