Deputies Give Chase, Tackle and Wrestle Suspect

Police activity takes place in Arroyo Vista neighborhood. Helicopter gets involved in the pursuit.

Deputies in Rancho Santa Margarita got a bit of a workout Monday evening in an Arroyo Vista neighborhood after stopping a vehicle with three subjects inside.

According to the blotter of the Orange County Sheriff's Department, the incident began at 7:13 on Via Amor.

The subjects were stopped by sheriff deputies, according to Orange County Sheriff's Department Lt. Jeff Passalaqua, who said all three subjects were on probation; one of them fled the scene, and an OCSD helicopter in the area assisted from above.

The subject fled into the neighborhood and jumped a backyard fence with deputies pursuing on foot, Passalaqua said. The blotter indicated an informant wanted to press charges against the man who ran through his home.

The deputies chased after the man and tackled the subject on Calle Estero, where they wrestled before the subject was subdued and taken into custody.

Arrested after the rundown was Nikolas Donovan Chaklos, who was taken to Central Jail in Santa Ana and being held on $50,000 bail.

According to Passalaqua, those in the vehicle allegedly had drugs in their possession.
