JSerra Football Coach Out After Season-Ending Loss: Report

Victor Santa Cruz​ coached the team for three seasons.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — JSerra Football Coach Victor Santa Cruz is out after Friday's season-ending lost to Santa Margarita, the school announced over the weekend.

Victor Santa Cruz coached the team for three seasons, and special teams coach Gabe Higerd has been promoted to interim coach, The Orange County Register reported.

According to the Register, JSerra was 14-18 overall under Santa Cruz’s tenure. The team failed to make the playoffs this year and lost in the first-round the last two years in a row.

This year's playoff CIF Division 1 playoff bracket was released Sunday. The postseason starts Nov. 14 with St. John Bosco playing Orange Lutheran, Sierra Canyon playing Santa Margarita, Mater De playing Mission Viejo and Centennial playing Servite.
