Library Exhibitionist Back In Court, Trial Scheduled for July

Robert Bruce Engel's pretrial hearing was continued until next month.

Robert Bruce Engel, the man accused of masturbating in front of three teen girls at the Rancho Santa Margarita Public Library, was in Orange County Superior Court on Friday for a pretrial hearing.

It was continued until May 22, but a jury trial was set for July 16.

A registered sex offender, Engel pleaded not guilty in December to one felony count of indecent exposure.

Engel, of Mission Viejo, is accused of attempting to hide himself under a newspaper while he pleasured himself on May 9, 2011. A week after the incident, he was again at the library when he was recognized by a librarian.

When Orange County Sheriff Deputies confronted him, he was reading a newspaper.
