No Lyin', These Deer Found Double Trouble
What's worse than one mountain lion in the road circling its prey?

By Martin Henderson
The Patch file photo of a mountain lion gets a double workout this week thanks to Photoshop, but it pales to the real life scene on a Rancho Santa Margarita roadway.
According to the blotter of the Orange County Sheriff's Department, about five hours after the fireworks at the lake, there were some predatory fireworks in the street near Plano Trabuco and Santa Margarita Parkway.
Deputies were called out to assist when a mountain lion was observed circling a dead deer in the roadway, no doubt looking for a free holiday meal.
But that's only the half of it.
The report also indicates there was a second lion circling a second deer—which was alive.
The report gave no indication as to the fate of the second deer.
The call was made Friday, 2:26 a.m. And despite being the safest city in the state, according to FBI statistics, you may want to be careful walking the streets at night.
This report was culled from the Orange County Sheriff's website. Not all facts in each report are made public; the outcome of the report may differ from the original blotter item. There should be no assumption of guilt based on this limited information.
