Rancho Santa Margarita's Newest Hall of Fame Member

Basketball coach made his mark at local school.

Jerry DeBusk, who coached high school basketball for 32 years before retiring at the end of last season at Santa Margarita Catholic, was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Southern California Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association.

DeBusk coached 12 years at Newport Harbor before taking on the role of building the program at Santa Margarita, where his teams won five section titles and two state championships.

DeBusk was honored at halftime Saturday of the Southern Section Division 1A boys' championship game at Anaheim Convention Center Arena.

Other inductees included: Mary Mulligan-Crapo, girls basketball coach at San Clemente; George Corsis, girls' basketball coach at Palmdale; John Dahl, boys' basketball coach at Moreno Valley; Rick Sobosky, boys' basketball coach at Torrance Bishop Montgomer and then El Segundo; and referee Al Hackney.

Eleanor Dykstra, who coached girls' basketball for 33 years at Cerritos Valley Christian in addition to other sports, received the Ray Plutko Lifetime Achievement Award.
