Robinson Ranch Still On Edge After Thursday SWAT Action

The fallout from SWAT action on Thursday afternoon was still being felt in the Rancho Santa Margarita neighborhood of Robinson Ranch. 

According the blotter of the Orange County Sheriff's Department, a homeowner on Larkgrove Circle reported Friday that she had received a message from her housekeeper that someone was attempting to break into the residence. 

The informant reported she was concerned about the break-in because of the event on Brookseed Drive, which is one street over from Larkgrove. The informant reported the housekeeper was hiding in an upstairs closet.

The housekeeper, who also called authorities, said someone first tried to enter the front door, then enter the residence through the garage. 

Deputies cleared the residence. No one was inside except for the housekeeper. 

They determined the noise was made by the strong winds that were responsible for a red flag alert across Orange County through Sunday, 6 p.m.

The call was made Friday, 4 p.m., from the 32800 block of Larkgrove.

At the conclusion of the aborted break-in Thursday, in which the OCSD's Special Weapons and Tactics unit was called to the scene, Lt. Brian Schmutz, told residents to report any suspicious activity in the area. Schmutz is the chief of police services in Rancho Santa Margarita. He said there was no unusual pattern of burglaries or theft in the area.
