An alleged attempt to cash a stolen check Wednesday at the Bank of America at 11185 Anderson St. led to five arrests in Loma Linda, deputies said in a statement.
Deputies went to the bank around 3:30 p.m. July 24 for a report of a male subject trying to cash a suspect check, according to a statement from Central Station personnel.
"The teller recognized the company name on the check as a B of A customer and became suspicious," deputies said. "The teller notified the company and learned from the victim that the check was stolen. The teller stalled the subject and called the police."
Deputies arrived and detained a man identified as Zachary Roop, 29, before he could leave the bank. Roop was arrested on suspicion of possessing a stolen check and burglary, deputies said.
Detectives then served a search warrant at a residence in the 10500 block of Poplar Street, Loma Linda, where they arrested suspects identified as William Kaven Andrews, 35, and Sheena Vagai, 32, "in connection to this case and on suspicion of being in possession of stolen property and forgery," deputies said.
Also arrested were Ernest Salinas Calderon, 38, and Krystal Lynn Fink, 24, on unrelated charges, deputies said.
As of Friday afternoon, Roop, Andrews, Vagai, Calderon and Fink all remained in custody on $25,000 bail each, according to inmate records. Roop, Andrews and Calderon were held at Central Detention Center. Vagai and Fink were held at West Valley.
