Ahlam Muhtaseb, CSUSB professor of media studies, appreciates the diversity on campus, saying that it helps her grow with her students. She also notes the importance of shared backgrounds – it is vital for students to see successful examples of those with similar life experiences as their own. This is part of the reason why having diverse faculty is so crucial.
Muhtaseb joined the CSUSB communication studies department in 2003. She has been recognized numerous times for the award-winning documentary that highlights the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, “1948: Creation & Catastrophe,” which she co-produced and spent 10 years making.
