Motorists in Redlands heading to and from Mentone can expect daytime delays on East Lugonia Avenue, also known as SR 38, in both directions on Tuesday, a Caltrans spokeswoman said Friday June 7 in a phone interview.
The stretch of East Lugonia between Judson Street and Dearborn Street is scheduled to be closed in both directions from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 11 for maintenance work, Caltrans District 8 spokeswoman Michelle Profant said.
The "full mainline closure" on eastbound and westbound State Route 38 is required so workers can put a coating on the road's existing asphalt surface to improve water-sealing and preserve the current road surface, Profant said.
"It's not the same as a full re-surfacing," Profant said. "It's more like if you fill in holes on a wall before you paint it."
