A DUI/drivers license checkpoint is scheduled 7 p.m. to midnight Friday Aug. 2 on northbound Orange Street north of Pennsylvania Avenue, according to a city spokesman.
"Officers will contact drivers passing through Friday's checkpoint looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment," Redlands spokesman Carl Baker said in a statement.
"Officers will also check drivers for proper licensing and will strive to delay motorists only momentarily. When possible, specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving," Baker said.
Drivers arrested on suspicion of driving impaired can expect jail, license suspension, and insurance increases, as well as fines, fees, DUI classes and other expenses that can exceed $10,000, Baker said.
Funding for some traffic checkpoint and enforcement operations is provided to Redlands police by the California Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
