A man on a motorcycle led deputies on a chase before dawn Tuesday, crashed into a yard in Highland, and was arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine, according to the Sheriff's Department.
Deputies tried to stop the man on a 2003 Honda for several unspecified code violations about 4:25 a.m. Aug. 6, Highland Station personnel said in a statement.
The motorcyclist did not stop and led deputies on a high speed pursuit until he lost control and crashed in the front yard of a residence in the 7700 block of Stoney Creek, Highland Station personnel said.
The man tried to run but deputies caught him. He allegedly had "a large amount of methamphetamine" on him and a suspended driver's license, deputies said.
He was identified as Warren Van Widgeon, 38. He was arrested and booked at Central Detention Center on suspicion of failure to yield and possession of narcotics, according to deputies and inmate records. His bail Tuesday morning was $100,000.
