To applaud small businesses owners and highlight the impact they have on the local community, Redlands Payroll Vault owner Amy Minjares delivered a random act of kindness to a fellow entrepreneur.
Minjares is the ultimate small business hero! She chose to use her small business to shine a light on other local small businesses by doing a surprise Small Business Giveback as a way to highlight Small Business Month in May.

She delivered a gift basket to Becky Hales, store manager of the new Shop Suey boutique in Redlands to say, “Thank you,” for helping contribute to the local economy.
Minjares is also donating 5% of every payroll her company runs this month to the Habitat for Humanity of the San Gorgonio Pass Area, a non-profit that helps provide people in the community with affordable housing.

“We know small businesses are the cornerstone of the American economy and we are so proud to be part of this family. We just want to show some love to other small business owners in our San Bernardino Valley community,” Minjares said.
Shop Suey sells handbags and accessories for any occasion online and recently opened its first brick-and-mortar location. The new store manager was surprised and thankful for the basket, which included water bottles, flower seeds, a planter, tea bags, and other items to help the business “grow.”
Small businesses were put through the wringer over the past two years. Being able to weather the outbreak of the pandemic, a nationwide labor shortage, inflation, and supply chain issues highlights their resilience.
“Being a small business owner is perhaps one of the toughest jobs, but it’s also one of the most rewarding. Running a small business requires sacrifice, determination, and resilience, including long hours and many administrative burdens,” Minjares said.
Small Business by the Numbers
Small businesses play a vital role in the communities they serve. Take a look at their impact by the numbers:
- There are 32.5 million small businesses in the United States.
- Small businesses account for 44% of all U.S. economic activity.
- They created 12.9 million new jobs in the U.S. over the past 25 years
- There are more than 11.7 female-owned businesses in the U.S.
Like Shop Suey owners, Minjares is living the American dream as the franchise owner of Payroll Vault, a payroll services and workforce management solution for local businesses. Small businesses are the backbone of the Redlands community and make it a wonderful place to work, live, and do business. Minjares believes showing gratitude for her fellow small business owners with a Small Business Giveback is the least she can do during this difficult season.
