Redlands Doctor Named CA Medical Board President

The Medical Board of California has elected Dev Gnanadev, M.D., of Redlands as its new Board President.

The Medical Board of California (Board) has elected Dev Gnanadev, M.D., of Redlands as its new Board President. Dr. Gnanadev was chosen at the July 28, 2016 Board Meeting to succeed outgoing President David Serrano-Sewell, J.D. Dr. Gnanadev was appointed to the Board by Governor Jerry Brown in 2011, and has served as the Board’s Vice-President since July 2014.

Dr. Gnanadev is the President of the Arrowhead Surgery Group, Associate Professor at Loma Linda University and Clinical Professor of Surgery at Western University for Health Sciences. Dr. Gnanadev has served on several committees of the Board and has been an advocate for consumer protection.

Upon his election Dr. Gnanadev stated, “I am alarmed with the growing epidemic of opioid abuse in California and in our country. This is an area that I will focus on during my term as president. It is my goal to reduce the number of deaths caused by opioid overdoses by enforcing the Medical Practice Act and by educating physicians so they understand opioid prescription guidelines, which include use of the CURES database.”

Dr. Gnanadev earned his medical degree from Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, India.
